Learn about piriformis syndrome cause and effect
The piriformis syndrome can mimic other types of leg pain. This condition can act and look like a disc problem. The sciatic nerve passes under or through this muscle; there is the chance the tolerance for a problem is there and can occur if it tightens and presses on the sciatic nerve. The symptoms can resemble a disc herniation but yet the disc is fine. This presses on the sciatic nerve. Not moving and sitting can be the origin of the condition. This is a muscle on a nerve condition but with a disc condition it is a disc on a nerve. If a sciatic nerve passes through rather than under the piriformis muscle, the chance for complication increases and you may get pain down your leg, then you may have an increased chance for this to develop. Weakened gluteals cause this condition to develop. But why would this muscle become weak. One has to ask why. If the psoas, iliacus and rectus femoris become weakened then others become lax as well. The muscles below have to work more so the hamstrings for example get tighter too. Foot position is responsible for this tightening up. Flat feet cause piriformis-syndrome as well. It is important to stretch this muscle properly.
Posture with a piriformis syndrome is important, so look to the posture control from upper cervical care.
